2009 HDNA Board

Thank you to everyone who attended the HDNA January 19th election. We were honored to have over 29 people attend the meeting.

ALL HDNA board meetings and general meetings are open to the Public, if you are interested in attending a meeting or working as a volunteer with HDNA please attend any of the scheduled meetings.

Voting January 19th!

On January 19th the HDNA will be electing a new board to oversee the 2009 programming year.
Anyone is invited to come and participating in the vote.
A complete list of candidates was posted on December 9th and updated on January 14th. Please note: write in candidates are still eligible. Anyone who would like to be considered as a write in candidate please attend the meeting on January 19th.

1. Post copy of the ballot, the HDNA Chart and board position descriptions.

2. Introductions - Pat Agosto

3. Respect Mantra- Mike Tate

4. Review mission-Pat Agosto-The HDNA mission is to promote resident empowerment and work to create and protect a community environment that enhances quality of life for all.

5. Present the HDNA board requirements and trainings/ opportunities-Jenn

6. Review HDNA election procedures-Jenn
1. Voters each receive ONE ballot, each voter must sign their name and contact information to the ballot
2. Anyone is allowed to Vote
3. Each nominee will speak for 1-2 minutes
4. Nominees will speak alphabetically
5. One of the current board members will appoint a timekeeper to monitor speaking times.
6. If a nominee is sick they can appoint a representative to come and speak for them
7. At the end of voting time 3 volunteers will count the ballots and tally up election results
8. Votes will be counted the night of the election and results will be posted the following day

Board Nominations 2008

During the December HDNA meetings we will be collecting nominations for potential HDNA board members. If you are interested in running for the board and have not submitted a nomination form please attend the next HDNA general meeting December 15th at Heartside Ministries (54 S. Division) to complete a nomination form.

Elections will be held on January 19th at Verne Barry Place located at 60 S. Division.

DECEMBER MEETINGS HDNA

HDNA MEETINGS FOR DECEMBER:
December 8th and December 15th
Both meetings will be held at 5 o'clock at Heartside 54 S. Division. There will be an opportunity to nominate board members and officers at both meetings, with the last chance at the
December 15th meeting.

WOULD U LIKE TO SERVE ON OUR BOARD?

Now is a great time to get involved with HDNA. In January we will be holding elections for board members and officers. The time committment for these positions is relatively small but your contribution to the Heartside Neighborhood would be huge.

Characteristics of a
Heartside Downtown Neighborhood Association Board Member:

1. HDNA Board members are passionate about the mission and goals of the HDNA:

Mission: HDNA shall promote resident empowerment and shall work to create and protect a community environment that enhances quality of life for all

Goals stated by the Bylaws of the HDNA
• To enhance the neighborhoods physical social natural and economic environment though encouraging concern for each others development and well being and in other ways
• To make our neighborhoods safer, more secure and more just by influencing the large forces that affect the quality of our lives
• To increase resident awareness and control over neighborhood development in order to endure that it benefits residents, particularly those that have the least.

2. HDNA Board members are willing to
• Commit to one year of service as a board member
• Attend monthly board meetings and participate in supporting committee activities and HDNA events
• Spend approximately 5 hours/month on HDNA related activities
• Work independently and collaboratively outside of scheduled meetings to complete goals identified by the board.
• Help to recruit new members during the recruiting process and throughout the year
• Complete other duties as assigned at the discretion of the executive board members

3. HDNA Board members are interested in being involved with the HDNA programs/ committees OR have a vision for future programs/ committees. Current committees include:

• Harvest for Heartside/ Heartside Peace garden/ community gardening
• Clean Sweep
• Annual Picnic/ Talent Show
• Public Safety/ Neighborhood Watch
• Other (HDNA is always looking for passionate, engaged individuals who want to share their sense of vision)


NO EXPERIENCE NESSCARY! Training will be provided to enable you to work towards positive neighborhood change! If this describes YOU then it is time to get involved with the Heartside Downtown Neighborhood Association!

MONDAY - NOV. 10th @ 5 O'CLOCK

HDNA will hold a committees meeting at the Dwelling Place Office 101 Sheldon, elevator to floor #2. We have a committee for everyone.....Picnic, Membership, Heartside Peace Garden - Harvest For Heartside, Safety - Neighborhood Watch. We are always interested in new ideas so if these committees do not interest you ..... come out anyway and let us know what you would like to do for your neighborhood.

HEARTSIDE MINISTRY TEMPORARY CLOSING

Heartside Ministry will be closed for several weeks beginning Monday October 20, 2008. They plan to re-open Monday November 3, 2008. If you need to reach HDNA please call (616) 889-3441.
